The Rebirth
My Journey
There was a time I lived in the shadows—lost in addiction, sleeping on the streets, and chasing anything that might numb the ache of disconnection. My life was centered around survival burning bridges, betraying my own spirit, and forgetting the sacredness of simply being alive.
But the medicine had other plans.
Through years of dark nights of the soul, spirit began to carve me open. Not gently, but with precision. The teachings of philosophy, psychology, and esoteric wisdom became torches in the dark. Ceremony after ceremony stripped away the illusions. Slowly, painfully, beautifully—I began to remember who I was beneath the pain.
I was called to Gabon, where I was twice initiated into the Bwiti tradition—first with the Missoko, then with the Fang. These were not ceremonies of attainment, but moments of complete surrender. The ancestors, the fire, the drums—they didn’t teach me who I was, they helped me forget who I wasn’t.
As I often say: “We don’t heal to become someone better—we heal to remember the truth that was always there.”
From this remembering, Spiro Wellness was born. Spiro is Latin for “spirit”—and this work is just that: spirit in motion. This isn’t mine. It’s something far greater than me. I am just one vessel in a network of many loving, supportive souls who have held me, guided me, challenged me, and taught me along the way. To my teachers—seen and unseen, human and more-than-human—I offer my deepest gratitude. I could not have come this far without you.
Spiro Wellness is a living, breathing prayer. A sanctuary woven from the wisdom of the medicines, the strength of community, and the grace of the divine. I walk humbly in service to it, and to those who feel called to this path.
This work isn’t about me—it’s about we. It’s about remembering. It’s about returning.
Bassé.
